water pump is right up front and center on the motor. to change the timing chain, you'll have to remove the belt, water pump, and timing cover.

Where is the water pump? on a 350? and how do i change the timing chain?
The engine fan is hooked to the water pump. I would take it to a shop. The timing chain call for special tools to reset the timing after it is in stalled with the basic time mark es lined up. If you wily want to do this. Go to the Library and do your homework first and see if you want really do it. If you're doing a larger cam it is another ball game to get it dial in.
