Timing Chain, when should i change it ?

My Mitsubishi MF Triton 1988 model is just about to hit 200,000 kms, its currently on 195,000 kms

i bought it second hand nearly a year ago

when should i replace the timing chain, do you reckon it would have been replaced before ? , any way to tell?

I currently have the inlet manifold off, should i do it now while im already performing repairs on it

and eventually a tappet has to be replaced, probably replace them all....

is that hard to do ?

Do it when you have to replace the tappet as the rocker cover needs to come off. they dont often get replaced unless they are getting noisy or the front cover is leaking oil. They can be a big job, ie sump dropped. tappets can be easy to replace depending on the model of engine.

you may as while replace it since the manifold is already off, replace the gears also. it should come in a kit.
