96 S-10 4Wd Blaser new timing chain but now no spark, ran b-4 change?

I have a 96 Chevy Blaser 4wd 4.3 liter VORTEC V6 that was running rough and had a shop look at it and told me I needed a new timing chain. Pulled it into my shop changed the timing chain and now I am not getting any spark on any plugs. Replaced crank sensor and sill no spark. Suspect that I got the timing chain off but I do not think this should stop the spark. Any feedback would be helpful.

Keep replacing good parts with new parts.

Why stop at the timing chain and crank sensor.

Maybe you should have done a more thorough diagnostic before tearing into it.

Just because some mechanic told you to replace something, doesn't mean he's right.

Replacing the timing chain is one of the more expensive repairs he thought he could get away with convincing you it needed so he could make money off you.

It could have been a vacuum leak, ir sticky EGR valve causing the bad running.

Make sure everything is plugged in, and all the fuses are good.

I had a 1998 chevy 1500 with 234,000 miles on it when I traded it and never needed timing chain, (same engine) but rough running could be EGR valve, Vacuum lines broke or leaking, Sensors going bad even. Many things other then timing chain. Now you have no spark. When you changed the crank sensor did you maybe crack it and not know it. Even if your timing was way off you should get spark but just be out of sequence.

Make sure your timing chain has not slipped or done something it should not have, remove the distributor cap and check to see if the rotor button is turning. I suggest you run a diagnostic on this and make sure you know what is wrong, before you keep guessing as to what your problem is.

A Friend of mine replaced the coil, crank sensor, coil wire, rotor button and then called me, I went over a quick plug in and then I said well it is your Module, 60 bucks and on the road, the point is he was guessing, with cars today you can rack up a thousand bucks if you want to guess and replace without knowing.Do your self a favor and have a diagnostic ran.

GOOD LUCK
Did you forget to put the crank sensor rotor back in???

It slides over the crankshaft after the crank gear, and the crank sensor cannot work without it. Pull out the crank sensor and put your pinky in the hole and see if you can feel the plate, turn it over BY HAND if your finger is in there, and feel for the tabs. Also make sure you didn't put that rotor plate in there backwards
shouldnt your right even if it was off 180 would stil spark

so how sure was you it needed a new timing chain to start with? check your coil rotor button cap from where fire comes recheck your work pretty sure it wil be a wire or another part before a chain
