turning distributor made idle better but when put in gear no compression and engine vibrates like so bad its scary what now

Sounds like you got the timing marks wrong you should not have needed to move the distributor

I would go and recheck to see if you have the crank at TDC and the valve timing set to its correct point then readjust the distributor to its original place.

sounds like your off about 1 tooth on the chain. here,s how i do it. i put number 1 piston all the way up and then turn the crank until it reads 0 on the scale then i set the cam gear at 6 o,clock and then line the crank gear with the key way and slide the chain on. the cam gear and crank gear should be 6 and 12 o,clock.
The engine vibration sticks out to me. It sounds like you dropped the harmonic dampener. You might have damaged it. Make sure you have the timing correct. Pull #1 plug and slowly turn the engine over with your finger in the hole until you feel the pressure build until it escapes past your finger. DON'T stick you finger too far in! Now, pull the cap and make sure the rotor is pointed at number one plug tower. Then, check the timing mark on the dampener. It should be very close to the TDC or 0 degree mark. Also, make sure you have all the vacuum lines attached.

Since you changed the timing chain, you may have to pull the cover again to check to make sure you have everything lined up properly. Which unfortunately means pulling the belts and accessories and the water pump. The compression thing tells me the cam timing is off.
It's very easy to get the timing marks on the chain pulleys off a tooth. It sounds like you need to check them.
