my crv has done 50,000 miles, in the manual it says the timing belt should be changed, but my mecanic freind says it has a timing chain is this true
Does the honda crv 2004 need a timing belt or does it have a timing chain?
Should be a belt
Replacement interval
up to 1998 60,000 miles or every 5 years
from 1998 72,000 miles or every 8 years
Does the honda crv 2004 need a timing belt or does it have a timing chain?
http://www.samarins.com/reviews/cr-v02.h鈥?/a> schroll down to where it says Engine. It says NO timing belt.
I think it has a belt. i have a 1998 CR-V and i have 134,000 miles on it and the belt is just about to go. and I have never changed it. The Honda dealer wants over $900.00 to change it. I just looked it up and the part goes for $65.00 so how much labor is involved. I'm going to be looking into getting a newer car rather than fixing this one. It has been a great car and still works fine except for this i've never had any problems with it.
Its probably a belt.. Pop the cover off an have a look!

Does a Honda Civic 2004 have a Timing Belt or Timing Chain?
I have a Honda Civic 2004 and I was wondering what does it have; a timing belt or timing chain. And could somebody plz tell me in how many miles it needs to be changed. It has 94k miles on it.
Does a Honda Civic 2004 have a Timing Belt or Timing Chain?
I think the recommendation for changing the timing belt for that year and model was 105,000 miles or every 7 years whichever comes first.
Does a Honda Civic 2004 have a Timing Belt or Timing Chain?
It has a timing belt on the drivers side of the motor. I think its best to change timing belts on Hondas at about 120,000 miles. When you are doing so, its best to change the water pump as well.

Timing chain replacement on my 1997 infiniti I30?
I have an infiniti I30 and am driving to florida from texas. it's got a little over 180000 miles on it. I got the serpentine belt changed yesterday cause it was cracking. The guy said I also should change the timing chain cause if it snaps it hurts motor and other things. It's not making any noise or anything right now and it is expensive to change the timing chain. Should I get it changed because of the mileage on car and a long drive ahead or should I wait until it starts making noises?
Also what else would I make sure is ready before I leave for Florida, I have not taken a big trip like that before.
Timing chain replacement on my 1997 infiniti I30?
Force of habit for this tech, I guess. Timing chains do fail, but not very often; if it goes, yes, it will take out the top half of the engine, but unless you have some reason to suspect it's on its last links, I'd let it be. I've only heard of one instance of a chain failing in a VQ30DE. (I have a 2000 I30.)
Timing chain replacement on my 1997 infiniti I30?
You are most likely on borrowed time with this timing chain. This is an interference engine. This means the valves must be in the correct position as the piston reaches the top of a stroke or the valve will crash into the piston. When this happens the engine is usually junk.
Interference engines usually require the timing chain or belts replaced ar regular intervals for this reason. The belt or chain can fail without warning. It doesn't need to make any noise to fail. When it fails the engine simply quits and won't start. One or more valves will either be bent or broken. The cylinder head, piston, or cylinder can be damaged.

Where is the water pump? on a 350? and how do i change the timing chain?
The engine fan is hooked to the water pump. I would take it to a shop. The timing chain call for special tools to reset the timing after it is in stalled with the basic time mark es lined up. If you wily want to do this. Go to the Library and do your homework first and see if you want really do it. If you're doing a larger cam it is another ball game to get it dial in. You can contact me in the future, if you need more help

How Often Do I Need To Replace The Timing Chain in My 03 Sebring 2.7l?
I have a 2003 chrysler sebring sedan lxi. It now has 64k miles on it and it runs great. I know the history of the 2.7l but i have babied this car with synthetic and 3500 mile oil changes. I was wondering when it would be necessary to have the timing chain and water pump replaced?
Thanks in advance%26gt;
How Often Do I Need To Replace The Timing Chain in My 03 Sebring 2.7l?
Well there are no plastic gears in there, and the '03 has the redesigned tensioner system and is thus much more reliable than the earlier engines.
The timing chain is not replaced as a general maintenance item. The water pump is separate of the timing chain, and should be replaced when and if it fails. It would be wise though to flush the cooling system if you have not already done so. That should be done at least every three years.

if you are lucky ...never... but if and when you need to opt for all metal gears ...they are way better than the plastic crap they put in cars now of days
if it has a timing chain... then, as soon as it breaks..
